Clients are afraid that working with a designer means getting rid of everything and paying to start over. If this explains why you haven’t used a designer, I invite you to reconsider. Even before the green movement, I have encouraged clients to start with what they have and only add where necessary. Many times I’ve searched through closets, garages and basements for the things they had given up on because it didn’t fit the way it looked in a retail setting. Careful editing and listening revealed a finished room and happy clients. As a designer, I am not afraid to mix looks to meet the desires of the homeowner. I have the training to adhere to specific themes and the common sense to know most of us don’t live in textbox definitions of style.
